Pediatric Dentistry at Highland Dental Center

Serving three generations of families in Kirkland, Renton, and Edmonds, WA.

Young children’s first dental experiences set the stage for their oral health for their impression of the dentist for the rest of their lives. Kids who have positive visits to the dentist are more likely to maintain regular checkups and cleanings as adults, and fewer suffer from dental anxiety. Our goal is to provide focused, one-on-one care so your child is not only getting the best care, but also individualized attention, which ensures a thorough, high quality outcome: a healthy smile for life!

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should visit the dentist no later than their first birthday, but we like to see our young patients as soon as they have teeth! We see children as young as four to five months to monitor for proper tooth eruption and health. By visiting Dr. Rekhi as soon as you child’s first teeth erupt, we can start him or her on the path to great oral health from the beginning.

Preventive Care for Your Child

Brushing and Flossing

Brushing and flossing is the best way to prevent decay in both children and adults. You should start brushing your child’s teeth as soon as his or her first tooth arrives. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a pea-sized amount of fluoride-free toothpaste. Children older than two can use fluoridated toothpaste. We recommend brushing four times a day for optimal oral hygiene: after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner, and at bedtime.

Professional Cleanings

We recommend that children visit our Kirkland, Renton, or Edmonds, WA dental office every six months for professional cleanings and exams. This allows us to catch oral health issues early and offer means of prevention rather than presenting treatment options. Our goal is to help your child maintain good oral health, as prevention is always better than treatment.

Your Child’s Experience

Our staff is dedicated to making sure your child is happy at all times. We strive on making all children feel safe, comfortable, and in charge of their care. We want children’s experiences at our office to be as positive as possible. Sometimes, this may mean multiple shorter appointments, but we’re willing to do that in order to ensure a child’s happiness!

As a patient of our practice, you’re already aware of the great attention to detail that we provide in you care, and we offer nothing less to our pediatric patients. Our care philosophy is based on treating patients the way we’d like to be treated: with full attention, compassion, and respect.
